Audio apps allow you to listen to and/or create sound bits using your computer. While traditional clients work only with standard formats like WAV and AU, another type of audio app has recently emerged that allows you to download and run audio clips in real-time. These apps mark an important transition for audio on the net -- gone are the days of waiting an eternity before finally getting to listen to a 30-second sound clip. This will be one of the net's most exciting technologies to watch evolve, especially as the speed and sound quality of the audio improves. |
